Auckland, Day Two

Ken and I fought the urge to nap after our arrival in Auckland yesterday, and that paid off with a good, full night's sleep. We spent yesterday walking down to the harbor, having our "Easter dinner" at a Chinese restaurant, then walking to the Auckland museum, which has wonderful artifacts from the Polynesian cultures. It amazes me to see the beautiful artwork of long-ago peoples. Humans have always had the need to create beautiful things.

Today we'll take a morning bus (coach, I mean. Here one never calls a coach a "bus) tour of the city. We've signed up for an optional tour to the rain forest of the west coast this afternoon.

Breakfast included fresh kiwis, melons, pears that actually TASTE like they're supposed to. It's hard to get fresh fruit that takes authentic back home this time of year.

My posts are short and picture-less at the moment, because this hotel charges by the minute for internet service. I'm hoping we'll stay at a hotel with free or reasonable service before long.
