Be careful what you wish for

Anyone who reads my blog regularly knows that I love a snowy winter.

I love the beauty of a fresh snowfall; I love the cold, crisp air; I love getting out in the snow for some cross-country skiing or snowshoeing.

Well.

This winter is bringing us just a tad too much snow.

We seem to be getting a major snowfall, not a dusting or an inch or two, every few days.

We got a heavy storm on Sunday, a foot or so, which was a very moist snow, difficult for Ken to snowblow and shovel because, he said, it was like trying to shovel cement.

Last night's storm, another six to eight inches, was light and fluffy. My kind of storm. Ken's, too.

This afternoon's storm has yet to arrive, but it's supposed to be another wet snow, so Ken is currently up on the porch roof, shoveling off the latest accumulation. It's not unusual for a roof to cave in under heavy, wet snow.
The many snowstorms this month have kept me at home much of the time.

I've been knitting hats. Sixteen are shown here, but I know of at least three more I've knitted recently.

Usually I get into my hat-knitting mode in the late fall, in time to donate the hats to various organizations which collect hats for children and the homeless. My February knitting puts me ahead of the game.
I've also been crocheting strawberries. My niece Rachel and I have plans for a craft table in late June at a local strawberry festival. So strawberries it is. I plan to make key chains out of this batch. I have other strawberry decorated items in the works, most of them knitted.

This is pretty much what I've been up to  lately. I've also done some baking, but I'm saving that for another post.

It's getting cloudy, so the snowstorm du jour can't be far away.
