Our tour of the opera house was great. Originally expected to cost $7 million and take 3 years to build, it actually cost $102 million and took 14 years to build! The cutting-edge architectural design was way ahead of its time; the builders weren't sure it actually COULD be built. The designer, who left Sydney amidst controversy before it was completed, has never come back to see the finished masterpieces.
